Our client is looking for an AIX administrator for a 3 month assignment in Buffalo, NY. If you or someone you know is interested, please let us know - we welcome the chance to speak with you.

Monday - Friday, 8 - 5 with shared on-call support rotation.

Install and debug Operating Systems software and software patches.  Configure Operating Systems and supported application software. Modify Operating Systems and supported application software. Install, configure, and implement new hardware into environment.  Provision hardware to satisfy user requirements and projects.  Design and implement complex technical software and hardware solutions.  Work with team to plan assignments and recommend tasks that will need to be accomplished.  Work with Systems development, Operations, and Vendor supplied consultants to implement technical solutions. Design, Develop and implement reports on systems capacity and utilization using the information obtained to make recommendations.  Lead other team members and other departments solving problems including participating in a 7/24/365 production environment.  Recommend workflow and process changes to improve productivity. Document work processes and operating environments. Perform work according to documented standards, methodologies, and quality assurance practices. Plan for and participate in Disaster Recovery Tests.  Attend and actively participate in meetings and other planning sessions regarding all job functions. Attend education to stay abreast of best practices and current technology.  Prepare and present presentations regarding technology or process upgrades. Report on time worked.

AIX administration needed, Linux a strong plus.  EMC Clarion. Unix scripting. Strong Operating System knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge in sometimes high pressure situations. Thorough knowledge of Systems Administration concepts like Software Installation, Backup and Recovery, Disaster recovery, Performance management, hardware integration , and capacity planning.  Strong technical knowledge and the understanding of the operating environment.  Understanding of how to obtain technology options.  Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems in several different disciplines. Programming knowledge and the ability to write scripts to solve problems. Good Communication skills, both written and verbal.
